In May of 1853, Levi Strauss an immigrant from Bavaria set out to build clothes that would be able to endure anything. in 1873, with the help of local tailor Jacob Davis, Levi combined copper rivet reinforcements and tough denim to create waist overalls. These overalls are now known as blue jeans.
