The Air Jordan 1 was released in 1985 and was Michael Jordan’s first signature sneaker. The first pair he ever wore dawned the ‘Bred’ colorway which was soon nicknamed ‘Banned’ because of the NBA’s decision to fine Michael Jordan $5,000 every time he wore them in a game since they violated the league’s uniform policy. The sneakers quickly became trailblazers in the transition of basketball being just a sport, to being the center of streetwear culture. Since then, the Air Jordan 1 Mid and Air Jordan 1 Low have been introduced. The Air Jordan 1 collection was made to stand out and they continue to do so with every new release.
