Jordan Retro
What are Retro Jordans?
Retro Jordans are a series of the Jordan sneakers that are basically throwbacks to the originals, often considered re-releases. The style of a retro release tends to be very similar, if not identical to the original Jordan shoe that came out.
Why All The Hype About Retro Jordans & Their Releases?
The Retro releases of Jordan series are interesting, and genius, but sometimes debated among hardcord, long-term sneakerheads. The reason that Jordans have in previous decades maintained popularity and high demand is because of the exclusivity of every pair. Limited supply for essentially every release of the really popular, well styled Jordan shoe, increases exclusivity, and often the deadstock price. When a specific Jordan is “retroed,” it’s essentially re-releasing the shoe that was at a time unavailable anywhere else (especially at retailers).
The great thing about the Jordan Retro Releases is that it gives sneaker collectors (even ones who already owned the original release), another chance to purchase their favorite shoe, or the shoe of their dreams. Some may have worn out their original pair, or quite possibly, others, never even got to wear them, you know how some of us, choose to keep em locked up in the box, and safe from creases! If you got the originals and then copp the retros, at least you can store the originals and rock the retros!
Just for an example, the Air Jordan Retro Black Cement 3’s were released again in Feb 2018, this time for it’s 30th anniversary. The Black Cement 3’s were originally released in 1988. For any Jordan-loving sneaker heads that didn’t get a chance to copp them in the late 80s (or more likely, may have not been born yet), Jordan re-released them on it’s retro line four times - in 1994, 2001, 2008, 2011, and the fifth time being the most recent.
