I love these classic slip-ons. They are effortless and go with EVERYTHING.
Isn't true white but off white
The description for the grey pair gave a description of...grey dawn/true white but it's NOT what arrived. I did indeed receive grey but was NOT true white, the white was that weird yellowish off white, bleh. Website needs to be updated to reflect the products true colour of off white. The fit was as expected and fit true to size like my daughter's other Vans.

Love these shoes as a classic staple of vans slip ons. The only thing I hate is that it's "off white" instead of just white & black. The off white makes the shoes look like they've been sitting in a smokers lounge collecting nicotine for a few weeks before they arrived. It's not the end of the world or the worst look but definitely think they'd be better with a stark/bright white instead of off-white.

I have been wanting these shoes for years now and I finally gave in. They go with every single outfit and I get so many compliments on them. The off white canvas is one of my favorite parts because it makes them have a sort of vintage look to them. My one complaint (which is with all newer Vans) is that the tag/label on the top of the inside of the shoe always rubs against my foot and causes irritation. I also get blisters from these shoes, bit that is likely because I do not wear high enough socks. Thank you to Vans for being so kind as to replace my previous pair.

I ordered womens size 6.5. They were so tight my daughter couldn't get her foot inside. I ordered a women's size 7. They fit in length but again it's so tight she struggles to get them on. We normally order her a women's size 6.5 Vans with no problem. She has several pairs. But for some reason this butterfly pattern is extremely tight.

Not as expected at all
Judging from the description and photos from the other checkered vans, true white is supposed to be white. This was not the case. This is that same off white color as the old school black/creme color. The "grey," has a purple hue to it. Super bummed by this. Been a long time customer but the fact you cant even exchange an online order is terrible to me. I got these on sale and if i return and try to purchase another color, i'm in the negative.

I love Vans. I have owned two pairs prior to this. I wore them everyday so they needed to be replaced yearly. This is my third pair and I am thoroughly pleased with them as usual. I wear these every day to work and all day. The first three days or so were rough but that is to be expected with any shoe and especially with Vans. But once they are broken in, they are the comfiest shoe out there in my opinion. I will continue making this style of shoe my everyday choice.

I am a long time Vans wearer - had many pairs. They are my favorite style of shoes. And I was so excited for this design. But these just don't fit right. It's as if the right shoe is not the same size as left. I bought another pair - different color - but still slip ons - felt fine. Stores are sold out in my size ant I like the design color so much I'll make do.

Inaccurate Sizing
This review is soley on the sizing of this style. I adore this style very much, but don't remember having such difficulty with the fit. Purchased this style in a my regular true to size (6.5m/8wm) before and although it was a little loose at first and continued to stretch out as I wore it more, I figured I could repurchase these true to size again. I even contemplating sizing down just so I wouldn't have a repeat of what happened prior, but ended up getting my regular shoe size. This style has now changed to running small... my feet are squashed, and now I need to go get a half size up. I should have read some of the comments before purchasing, cos this is not how it was before. I also did notice inaccurate sizing in other styles I've purchased. Either this was a bad batch or they are changing their sample size/ shoe pattern grading and leaning towards smaller fit.....

I bought the classic slip-ons with the Bronze Lurex checks. Wow! Nice! They fit as great as ever (I have many Classic Slip-Ons!). I have to always order a half size larger than my true size W6. This is due to the slightly narrow fit of most Vans. Same with this pair. The Bronze lurex presents as a dusty Gold, which goes with so many other colors? The sparkle lets you dress up the shoes, too. IThe basic Slip-on has minimal cushioning, but you get great ground and board feel. highly recommend this shoe.

The back rim over the Achilles tender is too stiff. Very painful. Hoping they break in soon but a different material would be better.

I was excited to get my sons shoes for school. Unfortunately the wrong size was sent. Probably wouldn't have been so bad but they are 2 sizes too big not sure how the associate pulling the order could confuse a size 4 from a size 6 . And the customer service wouldn't shop the new pair that was actually ordered. They did offer a refund as soon as i sent back the package with proof of shipping lable being dropped off at return location and after it was scanned. Its quite frustrating. I love vans but not sure about the customer service side. It was their error not mine. I will continue to purchase vans but i sincerely hope they can get their shopping issues corrected as well as their customer service.

To put it simply, these shoes are my favorite pair I've ever owned. I got my first pair of the checkerboard slip-ons at the beginning of my sophomore year of high school. I wore them almost every single day without fail until they were so completely worn out that the canvas was completely ripped off the toe and the soles are down to rubber. It took approximately two years of constant wear for them to get to that point and, when they did, I bought another pair exactly like them! They are my favorite pair of shoes ever!

You know how the canvas part of the vans turn yellow a little while after you've worn the shoes...well, Upon arrival.. it didn't look white checkered it looked yellow checkered. Thumbs down!

"off-white" is practically yellow
My kids have been wearing checkerboard slip-ons for years and it always slightly bothered me that they were off-white instead of pure white, but on the most recent pair we purchased, the off-white is seriously so dingy-looking that it appears almost yellow next to the bright white sole. Gross! I mean, it's obviously still a cool style, so we are sending them back for gray and black checkers instead. Don't say I didn't warn ya ;)

I bought these not even 3 months ago, hoping I'd get the same Vans quality that I've always relied on. I was pretty disappointed to find out that they wouldn't last me. There's a hole worn into both sneakers in the front within a short period of use. I don't wear them every day, I use my Docs for that, so I don't know why this occurred. I don't skate, either. My last Vans were retired after over a year of use, so what happened?? I'm really let down that they didnt last and I'll have to buy some other shoes without even getting 6 months out of them.

I was super excited to get my pair of shoes, I've been wearing Vans slips for years! But these were extremely disappointing. They are way too tight across the top of my feet and so hard to actually slip on. I got the same size I've always worn and there is still wiggle room for my toes so I know it's not because of a mistake in size. It's been almost two weeks trying to break this pair in and they are beyond uncomfortable!! I'm pretty bummed about them and will honestly give them away as I can't wear them. Not trying to hate on Vans but like..dang this was a huge fail.

I love the shoe style and want my checker vans but no way a 9 fits and I wear 9's everywhere. I'm usually a step wider than normal, so I get it but man these are tight. If you've got wide feet, don't go with Van's as there doesn't seem to be an option.

I've always wear the same size in vans.. this would be my 4th pair. But I couldn't actually slide these on without struggling; there was no stretch at all like the other slide ones I have and they were snug on me. I'll have to go up a half size at least. I love them otherwise, just like i expected!

I'm a size 8 1/2 but unfortunately in this style shoe it is way too tight & none of the actual van stores near me carry this design in any size. I got these for vacation & I'm really disappointed they didn't fit the way other vans styles do.

I regret not buying vans sooner
I bought myself a pair of these for my 15th birthday when I was starting my freshman year in highschool, a bit over 3 years ago. Two weeks ago I walked into my senior year, wearing that same exact pair of checkerboard slides. These shoes have been through everything with me throughout my entire journey of highschool. From my first date to my trip to New York to march in a very big Thanksgiving day parade, I've been wearing these shoes through it all. After intensely using these shoes for three years straight, I've needed to buy insoles to put on top of the old ones because I ripped through the heel. They've gotten beat up but are still comfortable, and I love them more than ever before. I'll use them til they fall apart, and when they do, I'll keep them for the memories. Back of my foot killing me
Both of my feet are in pain. The back of the shoe rubs so badly on my heel and Achilles tendon I can't wear these shoes without stepping on the heel. I have worn other slide on vans with no problem. However these pink checked vans have me in pain.

I will buy this product again and again.
My son wore these in the early 80s as a member of a band named The Qubes. A younger member of the church guitar group tried to duplicate them with a marker on white shoes. He said it worked fine until it rained.
Now 4 of us wear them in memory of my deceased son.

These shoes are very durable. My granddaughter loves the colors. The sizes are NOT true. I had to send them back TWICE because they run so small. :(

Warped Slip On is too warped
Ordered the Warped Slip on in Black/Paprika. This shoe is not what was expected. It's not clear in the photo or the description that not only is the checkerboard pattern warped (which looks cool) the whole shoe is warped. The top and back of the show also looks twisted so the elastic and front of the shoe is off set. The logo at the back is offset. It just looks strange. Returning and created a custom pair instead so we get that vibe without the warping. Really disappointed because the warped checkerboard was pretty rad.

They are really cute as I said and they rub your heels for like the first week until they're worn in but that's how all shows do. Overall highly recommend
Returned Defective Item
Recommend the shoes and have worn out 2 pair. This pair was received defective and had to be returned.

Had to return them
They fit like they were two sizes smaller. Wanted to exchange but that apparently isn't allowed returned them by mail and waiting for my refund.
My go to vans style
I had the same exact pair for the last 8 years and finally decided to get a new pair. Tried to get a different colour but ended up sending back and getting these again. I do find I usually have to size down a half size. Love them!

Sizes run small
NIce look but runs small. Way to tight. Very disappointing.
Cute but not true white
Cute shoes but they are not true white. They are more the yellow white and were not what we were hoping for. We ended up returning and getting some other shoes instead.

Vans: my go-to shoe
Padded, super comfortable, easy to slip on (they're slip-ons!) and nice style that doesn't show the dirt. Love the grey/black color combo. I have a dozen pair of various Vans, but these are still my favorites with their understated style and elegance. Wore them to the Earth, Wind & Fire concert at the Venetian because they go with everything. Took them with me as my dress shoe to Australia. Pack easy and look great. Vans is the quintessential California shoe.
